About Us
Korpana city has a historical background from the Nizam era. It is located on the Maharashtra-Telangana border on the Rajura-Adilabad highway. Before India’s independence, this city was part of the Hyderabad State. Even after India gained independence on 15th August 1947, Korpana was still under Nizam’s rule.
At that time, India’s Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, sent the army to remove the Nizam from Hyderabad State. On 17th September 1948, the Nizam was defeated and Korpana city became a part of independent India.
Initially, because it was part of the Nizam’s territory, Korpana was included in Adilabad district. After 17th September 1948, it was moved to Nanded district in the Marathwada region. Later, when Maharashtra became a separate state on 1st May 1960, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Yashwantrao Chavan, approved the construction of a bridge over the Wardha River. After the bridge was built, the area on this side of the river, which was part of old Rajura taluka, was merged into Chandrapur district.
Thus, on 15th August 1992, a new Korpana taluka was officially formed.
Nagar Panchayat Korpana was established on 17 June 2015.
The city of Korpana has a current population of around 7,500 to 8,000 people. It has important offices like the tehsil office, panchayat office, police station, public health center, electricity office, and a rural hospital. Korpana also offers education from convent school up to college. There are also religious places to visit like the Hanuman Temple, Sharda Temple, Durga Temple, Ram Temple, a mosque, and the Panchshil Hall.
Today, along with having a tehsil office, Korpana has also been given the status of a Nagar Panchayat. Because of this, with the help of the government and administration, the city is moving towards development.
